Product Features
This method is linear between sodium concentrations of 100 and 180 mmole/L (230 and 414 mg/dL). The assay shows no significant interferences from the substances at the indicated concentrations: lysed red blood cells (10 g/L); Intralipid (0.4%); triglycerides (8.9 mM); hemoglobin (10 g/L); and bilirubin (6.7 μM). The assay has precisions of Intra and Inter %CV values < 2.0%. The assay has good correlation with the ISE method. Reconstituted reagents are stable for 2 weeks when stored @ 2°-8°C.
Assay Principle
Sodium is determined enzymatically via sodium dependent β-galactosidase activity with ONPG as the substrate. The absorbance at 405 nm of the product O-nitrophenyl is proportional to the sodium concentration.
Intended use
For the quantitative in vitro determination of Sodium in serum and plasma samples.
