Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase (EC 4.1.1.31)
Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase catalyzes the following
reaction:
Phosphoenolpyruvate + CO2 +
H2O → Oxaloacetate + Pi
The enzyme is purified from a microorganism. The
molecular weight of the enzyme is approximately 390,000. The enzyme is
stable at pHs from 5.0-8.0. The optimum pH is 7.5-8.0. The enzyme is
useful for the enzymatic determination of carbon dioxide when coupled
with other related enzymes.
