Purine Nucleoside Phosphorylase (EC 2.4.2.1)
Purine Nucleoside Phosphorylase catalyzes the following reaction:
Purine nucleoside + Pi |
alpha-D-ribose 1-phhosphate + Purine |
|---|
The enzyme is purified from a microorganism. The molecular weight of the enzyme is approximately 120,000. The enzyme uses inosine (100%) and guanosine (60%) as substrates and does not use adenosine as a substrate. The enzyme is stable from pH 6.0 to 9.0. The optimum pH is 7.5-8.0. The enzyme is useful for the enzymatic determination of inorganic phosphourus, 5’-nucleotidase, and adenosine deaminase.
