3-α-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase (3-α-HSD) (EC 1.1.1.50)
3-α-HSD catalyzes the interconversion of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups of steroids. Diazyme’s 3-α-HSD is chromatographically purified from Pseudomonas testosteroni. The enzyme has high activity towards androsterone, but has no detectable β activity towards testosterone. The enzyme has useful applications in the determination of bile acids in blood.
