Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corp. and Diazyme Laboratories Announce Partnership

Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corp. and Diazyme Laboratories, Inc. Announce Partnership Expanding Test Menu on the Diazyme DZ-Lite c270 Benchtop Clinical Chemistry Analyzer, Adding 25 New Assays On Top of Over 50 CLIA Categorized Assays

GREENSBORO, NC — (Jan. 20, 2023) – Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corp. (CLC) and Diazyme Laboratories, Inc. (Diazyme) announce a partnership to expand the test menu on the Diazyme DZ-Lite c270 benchtop clinical chemistry analyzer.

Diazyme, known for its extensive menu of special chemistry and esoteric tests for clinical chemistry analyzers, makes running tests such as Lp-PLA2, APO A1, APO B, Homocysteine, Vitamin D, and other esoteric tests less complex, more cost-effective, and more convenient for clinical laboratories of all sizes having CLIA licensure that permits them to perform moderate complexity tests. Carolina Liquid Chemistries, known for general chemistry reagents, provides reagents for routine and commonly performed tests. They include tests like glucose, kidney function tests, liver function tests, and more. The partnership results in a benchtop chemistry analyzer that can run both special chemistries and routine chemistries. This analyzer can be used in all types of clinical laboratory settings such as reference laboratories, hospitals, and physician offices with clinical labs.

"Here at Diazyme, we continue to add tests to the DZ-Lite c270 menu. There is strong demand for a small benchtop with a comprehensive menu, especially in hospitals, reference laboratories, or large labs located in clinics. Space is tight, and the more you can do on a small footprint the better," says Dr. Chong Yuan, Managing Director of Diazyme. Dr. Yuan continues, "We are pleased to announce our partnership with Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corp."

"Having FDA-cleared special chemistries like Vitamin D, Lp-PLA2, and Homocysteine along with a broad menu of general chemistries that can run on a single, high-throughput benchtop chemistry analyzer is a real breakthrough for clinical laboratories," adds Phil Shugart, CEO of Carolina Liquid Chemistries, a veteran owned small business (VOSB) that has been supplying clinical laboratories with general chemistry reagents since 1994. Mr. Shugart continues, "Historically, special chemistries had to be run on much larger floor model chemistry analyzers or slower immunoassay analyzers with much higher cost-per-test. Now, a small clinical lab can run both special and general chemistries on the DZ-Lite c270. For larger clinical labs, it makes a lot of sense to use the DZ-Lite c270 as both a dedicated special chemistry analyzer and as a backup or extra capacity for their general chemistries."

The DZ-Lite c270 has the ability to run general chemistries and special chemistries on the same system at up to 270 tests/hour. Running tests on clinical chemistry analyzers is more economical than using traditional immunoassay platforms that are time-consuming and labor-intensive.
